Melanoma (Skin)
Melanoma is the cancer that develops from melanocytes. Melanocytes are the pigment producing cells that gives the skin its colour. It appears on the skin and less commonly, in areas like the eyes, mouth, or gastrointestinal tract.
Factors that increase the risk of Melanoma are:
1.Extended exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.
2.People having fair skin, light hair, and light eyes.
3.A family history of melanoma,
4.Weakened immune system.
Treatment:
The primary treatment for melanoma is surgical removal of the cancerous tissue and some surrounding healthy tissue. However, based on the stage and location of the melanoma, other treatments like immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or radiation therapy may be used.
