Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a condition where a lining tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus to grows outside the uterus.
Common symptoms of endometriosis include
➔Pain-related symptoms
- Severe menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)
- Chronic pelvic pain that can last throughout the month
- Pain during or after sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
- Pain during bowel movements (dyschezia) or urination
- Lower back pain or abdominal pain, especially during periods
- Pain in the thighs
- Chest pain (in cases of thoracic endometriosis)
➔Bleeding-related symptoms
- Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding
- Bleeding or spotting between periods
➔Gastrointestinal symptoms
- Abdominal bloating, sometimes called “endo belly”
- Nausea
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Bloating or discomfort during bowel movements
➔Fertility and reproductive symptoms
- Infertility or difficulty getting pregnant
➔Other symptoms
- Fatigue
- Depression or anxiety
- Painful urination
Endometriosis treatment may include medication, hormone therapy or Surgery.
Ideal surgery could be laparoscopic surgery, however in severe cases Hysterectomy, may be recommended.
