Pelvic Masses
A pelvic mass is a growth or enlargement, that could be benign or malignant, in the pelvis or lower abdomen.
Although there are varied causes are, but many are of gynaecological origin.
Common Causes of Pelvic Masses:
- Gynaecological:
- Ovarian cysts
- Uterine fibroids (the most common solid pelvic tumor)
- Endometriosis
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Adenomyosis
- Non-Gynaecological:
- Inflammatory diseases, such as pelvic abscesses
- Bowel-related issues
- Cysts in the retrorectal or presacral space
Pelvic Masses
Many women are asymptomatic, but generally symptoms can include pelvic pain, pressure, abnormal bleeding, or infertility.
